These posters appeared all over our office between 4 and 6 PM today. At first I got really excited but then I realized that if this were to happen, and MTV were to revert back to what it once was, my entire department would probably be out of a job.

Last night I went to see The Hold Steady -- only my favorite band EVER right now -- in Prospect Park with Sloan. And now I'm pretty much never going to go to a concert again if it's not them, because it was seriously the best live show I've ever seen.

ybor city is tres speedy but they throw such killer parties. )

Best. Concert. EVER. They're coming back to the city in September and I cannot wait.

One last thing: keep your calendars free on Saturday, August 25 from 1 to 7 PM EDT for the True Life Marathon on MTV -- the project I've been working on for the past month. It's the first time something I've worked on this closely has aired and I'm super proud of my contribution to it. So watch it!

Say hello to my new babies. My one complaint is that they're too clean-looking, and the laces are too white. Tomorrow I guess I'll have to go jump in puddles and walk in the mud in order to dirty them up enough to my liking.

My mom brought a lot of supplies for me this weekend. One packet of bhel puri mix, seven containers of mint and date chutney, four frozen servings of homemade mattar paneer and saag paneer (separated into individual containers), one large tin of basmati rice, one wholesale package each of frozen samosas and frozen paneer poppers, and four packages of Maggi noodles later, my apartment smells sufficiently enough like curry for me to finally call it home.

I spent this weekend back in 1991, when we were silly and mischeivous and spent our time at parties spying on the grownups from the stairwell. Until they caught us, of course.

I feel so trapped in the cage of my own routine. I need something to come along and shake things up, now.

Also: Watch MTV's True Life: I'm Jealous of My Sibling on Oct. 31 (yes, I realize it's Halloween) at 10pm to see my first on-screen credit on a TV show. Oh yeah, and the show's pretty awesome too.

My roommate is gone. The apartment feels so weird without her here.

I should be packing right now, as I move across the street into a new building on Sunday, but instead...

The massive graduation update/photo post!

+25ish. who uses dialup anymore? )

Tomorrow I am going with my parents on a double decker bus tour of New York City, and I am super excited because I have always wanted to do one of those.
Then it's more packing and coming to terms with the fact that because only old people are alumni,
and because I have just graduated,
I, by the transitive property, am OLD.

I'm done, kiddos.

This week has been ABSOLUTELY insane.
Longer update and tons of pictures as soon as graduation craziness is over.

Tuesday morning I skipped class, woke up at 8 AM, took 2 subway lines and walked 5 crosstown blocks.
But it was all worth it, because I got my hair highlighted for the first time, at one of the best salons in New York -- and for only $20.

best deal in new york city! )

SO! What do you guys think? The stylist said that next time we could "pump it up a notch" and I'm actually kind of excited for that. And seriously, the early morning wake up was SO worth it. I'm definitely doing this again in the near future.

Last Thursday (before Laura arrived), Lianna and I had lunch in Ferris Booth, and on our way out of the student center we decided to stop at the table that Alice! (Columbia's health and sex education program) had set up for Safer Sex Week, so we could pick up Safer Sex kits and fish the chocolate out of them.

They had a large, transparent jar filled with condoms on the table, with a sign next to it that said "Condom Guessing Game: how many condoms are in the jar?" On a whim, I decided to pull a number out of thin air and write it down. After a barely cursory look at the jar, I guessed 162.

There were 163 condoms in the jar.

Which means I won the game, and am now the proud owner of 163 condoms of assorted variety (colored, studded, female, lubricated, non-lubricated, king size, and more that I probably haven't seen yet). 167 if you count the 4 that I had already received in my Safer Sex kit.

Either this was fortuitous, or fate is laughing at me, and telling me that the man drought is going to last another five months. I can't decide which one as yet.

The view of the Blizzard of '06 from my apartment (I only left for Grey's Anatomy, which, by the way, was INTENSE tonight!):

26.9 inches since yesterday afternoon. A record in New York City.
I wonder how they're going to move all those cars that are covered in snow.

At Paulash's request, and in order to prove one of my previous posts incorrect, here are the pictures from when I modelled in the fall. I directed a lot of you to the website when it first went up, but now that it's been taken down to be redone for spring (and I'm not one of the featured faces anymore) these are going in here for posterity. The whole day was SO much fun, even though it was below freezing outside, and we had to do my hair and makeup in the middle of a crowded coffee shop, and I couldn't get myself to stop giggling and be pouty for the life of me.

Taken in Washington Square Park. This was from the first leg of the shoot -- I was still wearing my own clothes and had not perfected the blank stare. And no, I don't really heart dim sum this much. But this is probably my favorite of the lot.

My one chance to strut my stuff. )

Also, I just gutted parts of my screenplay. Now I understand why it's notoriously hard to rewrite -- when you become so attached to something and have to change it around completely, it's like sacrificing a part of you. The script is so much better now than it was before, but having gone that long without changing anything...it was difficult to get in there and start fresh.

But, I got a male desi actor! Now, the only one left to cast is the lead.

I go into things saying very loudly that I have no expectations, but yet I keep expecting things to happen and wind up thoroughly disappointed at the end of it all.

Sometimes I wish that the love of my life was someone who I was intensely irritated by at first. That would make things a hell of a lot easier. And spare me a lot of unnecessary hatred of myself.

But, on to brighter things before I leave for class this morning...photos from this weekend, round 1.

There's no sleep at a shaadi. )

Ugh. The last thing I want to do is go to Film Theory. But there's so little time in the semester left. It seriously feels like classes just started. Last year was a blur, and this term feels like it never even happened.

If the remaining 3 semesters are only going to go by faster...then I'm absolutely terrified.
